The Adventures of Simon & Barklee
Bring the World to Your Classroom through Global Studies

Come explore the beautiful Pacific Northwest as you learn how to integrate global studies into your classroom.  Discover simple, creative and useful ways to bring the world into your elementary, middle or high school subject areas.  Interact  and collaborate with peers and multicultural experts to learn best practices, create strategies to open the world to your students.

As a result of taking this course, participants will learn:

  • How rapid global change affects students, their future and what it means to us as educators.
  • Key elements that contribute to globalization and require global thinking and broadened worldview.
  • State of the art teaching strategies for elementary and secondary teachers that develop global awareness and enhance critical thinking skills.

Sponsored by Simon and Barklee, Inc. in association with Heritage Institute, Clinton, WA. 2 credit hours – awarded through Antioch University.

Dates: June 22-25, 2006
Location: Des Moines Conference Center, Des Moines, Washington (near SeaTac airport). On the waterfront of Puget Sound.
Institute Registration: $295 per person

Accommodations: Hampton Inn, SeaTac Airport (shuttle service provided) $50 per person per night, twin sharing (single rooms available).  Breakfast included, lunch on Friday and Saturday, dinner on Saturday.
