 About the Simon & Barklee Book Series

Hey, kids - teachers - and parents! Hop on board for a world-wide romp with Simon and Barklee!

Simon T. McTwill and Barklee are two globetrotting best friends who star in this landmark series of exploration and adventure books for children. Simon is an intelligent and operatic canary. His loyal companion, Barklee, is an endearing and fearless flop-eared terrier.

As we travel, we learn the reality of new world regions and countries, discover new words, improve comprehension, tackle basic math problems, learn geographic facts, experience the richness of history, and develop a sense of the wonders of our globe.

Each book is offered with an optional Activity Package or FunBook which extends the story, providing projects in reading and writing as well as discovering differences in world currencies, practicing mapping skills and learning more about culture and traditions. For schools and homeschool families, teachers' guides and lesson plans are available as well as bi-lingual (English/Spanish) family projects.

Literacy development and language arts skills are the objectives but the heroes lead students through a host of other areas of learning:
